From bridge to hospital: Calatrava ‘slides down’ in Venice

Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava has proposed Venice town council some modifications to the bridge he designed on the Grand Canal, whose inauguration took place on 09/11/2008: the aim is to prevent people from falling and sliding, as they keep on doing while crossing it. Since the footbridge was opened – as reported on this weekend by the Italian press – several of those incidents occurred, so that 10 tourists had to be hospitalized [elmundo.es / Guardian].
